The County's new Internet Crime Mapping system went online Monday, July 17th. This system features up-to-date information on crimes and traffic incidents that occur throughout the city and county.
SDDPC was a contributor to this effort with ARJIS, the County District Attorney and the Association Of Governments. This mapping project combines information from law enforcement agencies across all of San Diego and allows residents to search for crime and traffic data in several different ways including date, time, zip code, and council districts.
SDDPC staff procured, configured, installed, and hosts the servers used in this application, had an instrumental role in building the data layer for the maps and provided the Project Management for these efforts.
The site can be accessed through the ARJIS website at www.arjis.org
Using the mapping system is an easy, four step process:
1. Select the geographic region to be mapped. You have many options for area, type of map, and so forth.
2. Select the type of incident you want to map. Each incident type has a corresponding map icon.
3. Select the time period you wish to map. This can be as narrow as a few hours of one day, or as long as a year.
4. Click the map button to generate the map. Once in the map, you will be able to use a set of controls along the right hand side to help you view, print and understand your map.
