Oversee and direct professional information systems programmers and analytical staff in the development, testing and installation of SAP Solutions for Customer Information Systems (CIS) Utilities software on behalf of the San Diego City Public Utilities Department
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides key technical leadership, mentoring and oversight to SAP technical team members and inter-departmental teams
Oversees resources in establishing and supporting the system environments
Coordinates between technical teams for effectiveness
Investigates, presents, designs and implements new SAP systems and technologies
Contributes technical maturity and expertise, resulting in the SAP system achieving highest level of technical success
Maintains a professional level of communication with clients (including functional teams), management, staff, and vendors
Evaluates the recommendations of technical staff and troubleshoots the most complex problems
Prepares and presents project status reports and budget information.
Maintains project team
Confirms Security compliance integration between technical and functional work streams
Defines technical acceptance criteria
Develops application integration and interface development strategy
Defines the technical requirements and identifies the proper technology solutions
Develops and evaluates implementation plans and installs new enhancements and releases
Designs system architecture and hardware requirements…and participates in the procurement and installation of it to meet project schedules. Ensures co-ordination with existing system infrastructure
Manages and maintains key SAP sub-systems and/or SAP applications
Participates in the analysis and development of complex system interfaces
Manages the transport of configuration and development objects
Provides 24/hr/7 day support as directed
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION: Minimum of ten years experience in SAP technical field of expertise, achieving highest level of expertise within area of specialty
Minimum of five years in a lead role
Excellent verbal, written, and strong technical leadership skills
Ability to oversee other technical staff and consultants with BASIS, ABAP, Business Objects, Portals, Business Warehouse, Infrastructure, etc.
Demonstrates advanced analytical skills which result in resolution of the most complex technical problems
Extensive knowledge of SAP technical aspects in Information Technology, related to a variety of SAP modules and the technical requirements to support them. e.g. programming tools, hardware/software, Security, infrastructure architecture, etc,
Public Utilities knowledge a plus, especially related to Customer Information Systems and Utility Billing processes.
