This position is responsible for the analysis, planning, implementation and maintenance of multiple VMware environments at the highest level of technical performance.
This is a 3-6-month temporary or full-time assignment
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ensures the VMware systems run at optimal performance and efficiency; providing availability, reliability and performance that meets or exceeds service level agreements.
Provides hands-on support of the VMware environment
Provides key technical leadership and mentoring to individual technical team members and inter-departmental teams
Provides architectural solutions that include network hardware components
Coordinates between technical teams for effectiveness
Demonstrates advanced analytical skills which result in resolution of the most complex technical problems
Investigates, presents, designs and implements new systems and technologies
Contributes technical maturity and expertise, resulting in system achieving highest level of technical success
Provides 24/hr/7 day support as directed
Maintains a professional level of communication with clients, management and vendors
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION: Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in the set-up and maintenance of VMware/Vsphere services, achieving highest level of expertise within the environment
VMware Certified Professional (VCP 4)
Ability to provide architectural design that includes VMware components and related network and/or storage components
4 -5 years working experience in a Unix/Linux environment
Ability to program in language applicable to the VMware environment
Working knowledge of HP DL hardware
Working knowledge of "C" class blades – a plus
Working knowledge of enterprise level storage (Array/SAN/FAS) & tape backup platforms.
Working knowledge of NetApp storage – a plus
Ability to create system monitoring and reporting solutions – experience with VKernel a plus
Working knowledge of Cisco Nexus switches – a plus
Knowledge of standard applications including MS Exchange, MS SQL, & Oracle.
