Critical points of change provide unprecedented opportunity for positive, long-term growth. Two years ago, the city of San Diego arrived at such a point. In an intense, citywide retrenching, remarkable people have united around Mayor Sanders' vision to implement the Kroll Recommendations for building a stronger more stable San Diego. We, and our dedicated employees, are proud to participate in many of those initiatives to make our city government more efficient, more transparent, more productive and more effective.
In 2007, San Diego Data Processing Corporation executed strongly against our key mandates. With completion of phase one of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, we are well underway to stabilizing and modernizing software systems across multiple city functions such as finance, payroll, purchasing, benefits and human resources.
Partnering closely with Microsoft, we have successfully rebuilt the city's active directory and messaging infrastructures, migrating approximately 11,000 employees in more than 400 locations to Microsoft Windows® environment for file sharing and e-mail. The result, in short, is a wholly new operational foundation for the city's technology infrastructure. And that means better service and better outcomes for the people we serve.
Amidst the excitement of these challenging initiatives, the extraordinary employees of San Diego Data Processing Corporation ensure business as usual for their clients, managing office relocations, technical consulting and support as well as the management of data, records and networks for more than 400 distinct locations. We also commend our sterling expert partners, who work shoulder-to-shoulder with us on a daily basis and who provide world-class talent on behalf of companies such as Microsoft, Avanade, EDS, Hewlett-Packard, SAP, Axon Solutions and many more.
In ways not obvious to most, San Diego Data Processing Corporation has partnered with the world's leading names through a unique outsourcing model that gives the city maximum flexibility, long-term institutional knowledge and unparalleled outside expertise. This convergence allows the city, and its beneficiaries, the citizens who count on city services, to enjoy the best of business models. And at non-profit costs
We welcome your thoughts on how we're doing. So, join us as we glance at this year in review, and the exciting projects and achievements that have continued the partnership between the city of San Diego, San Diego Data Processing Corporation and the many outsourced service providers who deliver excellence each day.
By emphasizing our historic knowledge and our emerging strengths, we move forward with a new sense of purpose - to invigorate the long-running performance of the city of San Diego. A city on the move.
